Can the Rangers pull the heist of the Century?

When a powerful weapon is on the open market, Trini Kwan assembles a team to go undercover and take it before it falls in wrong hands.

POWER RANGERS UNLIMITED #3 by Joey Esposito, Kenny Porter, Alessio Zonno, Raúl Angulo & Ed Dukeshire (BOOM! Studios) goes Oceans 11 with their latest issue!

Let’s take a deeper dive into the heist!

*** POSSIBLE SPOILER WARNING ***

writing:

Esposito and Porter are really pushing the Rangers into new and exciting territory. Broodwing’s auction is filled with shady characters, all vying for the big score. Readers watch as the Rangers get set behind the scenes. Their banter is loose while orchestrating the next move. Once the plan gets into motion, the tense action begins. The writing stages each action with a sense of flair while never loosing the focus of the mission.

Readers watch as their mission gets stalled with more parties catching wind of the act. The writing showcases the team’s confidence as business picks up. It builds towards a solid showdown to push for the closing act. Once here, the writing nails the high marks set to push the mission to the finish line. The epilogue does its fair share of lifting as it teases more troubles yet to come. Nothing hits harder than the final page. It grounds events to a halt, letting one Ranger’s story cement its emotions before departing this round. A thrill ride no one wants to miss.

art & lettering:

Zonno & Angulo kick off events with a half panel of Broodwing addressing the crown. Dukeshire’s letting jumps out as the crowd reactions. It also gives the team introductions a spy feel as the team networks in the party. Once done with pleasantries, a solid full page introduces the prized item for auction. This forces the squad into making moves. A great half panel shows how security is bypassed into something far more wilder.

The art goes for an impactful look as the traps become more clear. During these panels, the Rangers smiles never leave their faces. Its an enjoyable take as the good kids are up to nothing good. One attendee gets a notable half panel showing their distinct look. This leads into classic Ranger action. Pacing moves pages quickly as the mission goes sideways,. It unlocks a few strong images before a full shot concludes the heist. This leads into a stable finish with the last panels nailing a gut punch into readers. A very enjoyable visual time for this one.

FINAL GRADE: 8.8

Rangers 11 anyone? Trini’s sqaud attempts a crime heist with no room for error in this latest installment. Esposito and Porter craft a very intriguing tale for this group of Rangers. The art delivers the stylish vibes in-between the action. Power Rangers Unlimited keeps leveling up every time out!
