DNX #1 (Marvel Comics)
Hello there! Padawan J here, the resident Star Wars expert from the ODPH! This week I'm going to be reviewing the FIRST issue of DNX!
DNX is the latest event story taking place in the Marvel Comics Universe! The X-Men and Fantastic Four are taking center stage for this story and they have to stop the villainous terrorist group 3K from unleashing the dreaded X-Virus and changing the world forever! But can Reed Richards get past an ethical conundrum first? Let’s jump into it!

The Story
The stakes in this story are incredibly high, and Jed MacKay does a fantastic job establishing that right from the get go. There are currently THREE event stories going on right now so you really have to hit the ground running and establish yourself at the outset and Jed does an incredible job doing that.
The story takes place in Philadelphia where a hidden ship belonging to 3K is hovering above the city. Of course inside is the insidious group looking to set their plan into motion their plan for the future. I really enjoyed how Jed was able to start the story without going full tilt just yet. He masterfully sets the chess pieces up and then strategically starts to move them like a master.
The most compelling part of the issue is the ongoing discussion that takes place between Reed Richards and Hank McCoy about the prospect of helping Magneto return to his old self. It’s a super compelling discussion and is one that I’m sure fans have been having for some time. Before long, the battle is on and we’re off to the races. It’s going to be very interesting to see this play out and see what kind of ramifications it has for everyone involved.
The Artwork
Federico Vincentini & David Curiel are in charge of the artwork for the issue and it is truly some spectacular work done by the pair in this issue. There is a ton going on in the issue and they both do a fantastic job giving each panel the space it needs to help tell the story. They truly bring some gravitas to the story with their artwork and elevate it to another level with how much they’re able to do and convey. The action sequences in particular stood out to me as high points of the issue with just how great they were.
Overall Grade: 8/10
A great start to the DNX event and sets things on a very interesting path going forward. Jed MacKay pens a fantastic story, and together with artwork that is out of this world incredible make this an event you don’t want to miss out on!
