STORY OVERVIEW:

Charles Xavier and Apocalypse lead the warriors from Arakko to Philadelphia to take on Revelation. However, Revelation is more than prepared for this assault and is waiting on them. Meanwhile, the X-Men are also making their way through Philadelphia, and they run into the Angel of Death. But something has changed and Logan has returned, as he took his vengeance out on some of Revelation’s army. The reunion with Cyclops is a sweet and short one as they have a mission to continue on.

Xavier gets pulled into a psychic battle with Quentin and it’s a brutal one. Unfortunately, Xavier does not come out of it the victor. Apocalypse is now confronting Revelation, as the X-Men also show up. This leads to an awesome and violent battle, that leaves Quentin headless, and Revelation seemingly defeated. However, Revelation has one more trick up his sleeve and it appears that everyone walked right into it.

WRITING:

This issue delivers on so many levels and takes the reader on a wild ride. Jed MacKay does an incredible job of showing the reader the desperation and urgency of the forces against Revelation. The offensive and taking the fight straight to him shows that they are at their last option. The fight scenes play out in a brutal and violent fashion, which echoes the desperation of the situation. Add to that the heartfelt drama that plays out with the return of Logan, and this story keeps you on the edge of your seat.

MacKay also does an awesome job of setting the table for the epic conclusion of this event. Just when our heroes think they have Revelation on his heels, the script gets flipped. The amazing twist that ends this issue and the domino effect that it will lead to going forward is what will surely hook every reader.

ARTWORK:

The artwork in this issue is stunning and really gives the reader a front row seat to the action. The art team crushes it on every aspect of how the story plays out. The violent fight scenes bring the brutality of war to life. Well, the more dramatic scenes bring the reader in and make them feel the emotion that is intended. The colors match the art perfectly and allow the art to pop out of every panel. This art team really nailed their assignment and created amazing art that makes the story much better.
