STORY OVERVIEW:
Maxine Danger’s plan is playing out perfectly. The X-Men are separated and fighting for their lives. Psylocke and Xorn have been shot out of the sky in Wisconsin and are believed dead. The attempt on Glob’s life has Quentin and Temper ready to hunt the humans responsible for it, well Magneto tries to calm them down, and make them realize there is something bigger at play. Meanwhile, the rest of the X-Men are trying to not be eaten by the living ship they find themselves in. The outlook looks bleak for our heroes, and the Danger Room is all ready to celebrate their great victory. However, is the celebration a bit premature?
WRITING:
The third part of this Danger Room arc takes an already bleak outlook and somehow makes it bleaker. Jed MacKay does an excellent job of putting the X-Men in peril and making their future look hopeless. The separation of the team gives the reader three different focal points which helps the story look even more desperate for our heroes. MacKay delivers some great action scenes, well at the same time teasing what may be next for our heroes. The anticipation for what’s to come builds a great deal of suspense for this arc. MacKay also keeps the hope alive for the X-Men with a great final page reveal that sets up the next issue perfectly.
ARTWORK:
The artwork featured in this issue demonstrates meticulous attention to detail in conveying the narrative. The character designs remain consistent with their original depictions, facilitating immediate recognition by audiences. Dynamic color choices contribute vibrancy to each panel, enhancing the overall impact. Collectively, these elements are integrated by the creative team to deliver an outstanding visual presentation.
