STORY OVERVIEW:

Carl Cranem and his sponsor Glorianna Flux are dead set on making the G.R.X Engine the most sought-after engine in all of Formula X. However, Speed Racer isn’t done with Cranem yet. Speed is all for putting a G.R.X in the Mach 5 to compete with Carl. However, Pops has another idea and is willing to race Speed to determine whose method they should use. After Pops wins against the faster Mach 5 using an old school racing maneuver, Speed buys into Pops idea. Now on race day Cranem and Speed have their final showdown. Will the G.R.X prove too fast to beat or will racing skills take Speed to the winner circle?

WRITING:

This issue brings a lot to the table, but most of all strong emotions. David Pepose takes this rivalry and turns it up to ten. The racing action is amazing as always in this series. But yet again it’s the drama that really makes this story special. Pepose continues to show the growing relationship between Pops and Speed. This familial relationship is super relatable and really brings the reader closer to the characters and the story. However, Pepose wasn’t done pulling on the readers heartstrings as the dramatic finish of this issue will surely put you in your feels. I’ve said it before and it still is true; no one writes human emotion better than David Pepose.

ARTWORK:

The art team displays impressive talent throughout this issue. Davide Tinto skillfully brings the world of Speed Racer to life, making the visuals immersive and engaging for readers. The characters are uniquely designed, and the racing scenes stand out as especially well-executed. Tinto’s illustrations effectively capture the story’s emotions. Jão Canola uses colors that boost both the impact and highlight important details. Along with Buddy Beaudoin's excellent lettering, these artistic elements play a major role in the series, being considered one of the top titles at the LCS.
