STORY OVERVIEW:

Maxine Danger tells of how she put her Danger Room team together. She recruits former S.H.I.E.L.D Agent Charlene Jackson, Colton, Grigos, and Marquez. This team even without superpowers has a certain skill set that makes them a formidable foe. Unfortunately for the X-Men their plan is rolling out quite perfectly. The Danger Room has taken out Psylocke, got the mutants and humans fighting each other in Merle over the shooting of Glob, and lastly have the rest of the team stuck inside the Living-Ship Entity. Can Cyclops and the rest of the team figure out how to get out of their predicaments?

WRITING:

This issue continues to ramp up the story and build up this new threat to the X-Men. Jed MacKay really ramps up the threat of the Danger Room, which gives the X-Men a real challenge. Seeing the X-Men fight from underneath adds a certain amount suspense and anticipation. MacKay knows the pulse of the X-Men Universe and understands how to push the limits in said universe. The action really hit the spot in this issue and brings a great deal of entertainment as well.

ARTWORK:

The artwork in this issue captures the unfolding story with remarkable precision. Scenes of conflict across various settings are vividly illustrated. The characters’ appearances stay true to their original designs, allowing fans to immediately recognize familiar heroes. Bold and lively colours add energy to each panel, making the art especially striking. Overall, the team seamlessly blends these aspects to create an exceptional visual experience.

Final Thoughts:

X-Men #27 continues to push this new version of the X-Men forward and keep readers on the edge of their seats. The threat from the Danger Room mixed with the mystery of who hired them is enough to keep any reader engaged. If you are not reading this series, it’s a good time to give it a shot when you’re at the shops this week.
