Oswalt and Blum open with a look at the future of Playtime’s group. Readers watch as the Video Villain and Dinosorceror answer the bell on their first mission. The writing displays their inexperience with hesitation looming in the air. Their role kickstarts and even great scheme as Scadlock’s moves are being watched. Playtime’s methods are cold but effective in this instance. Another major advance is started. This one has a bit more flair to it.

Readers will be howling at who’s involved in “Part C”. It’s a get break from the heavy drama without stealing away too much momentum. The Searcher continues her complex ordeal in crossing over from hero to “villain.” The pairing of her and a certain “Threat” pays off huge before shifting gears. Playtime’s overall plan starts picking up momentum at this stage. Readers watch as the “bad guys” attempt some noble deeds. t’s a role reversal the writing spins with ease. This leads into a more chaotic finish than expected. A fitting moment of joy sends the group into the unknown. The final pages tease the end is coming and readers had best be ready.

Hepburn and Herring kick things off with a calmer look at the young guns of the group. The quick recap of their origins launch them into the growing fire of Scadlock’s plans. The bait and switch schemes play off like a true crime caper. Playtime’s emotionless reactions help amplify the plan. Not everything is that serious though. “Part C” carries a lighter tone as the panes play out. One will draw a certain reaction out of readers. The half panel sets up a nice break before the pacing speeds everything up.

Searcher’s reactions to events stands out. The art brings out her conflictions as the plan spirals forward. The action scenes hit hard as events become out of control. The close up of a captured member signifies the plan is working. This leads into a strong half page shot of Playtime speeding plans up. The full page image of Frankie taking out Scadlocks’ security is a show stealer. From here, the pages slow down enough to savor victory as the final showdown looms. It’s excellent work bring out the best of the bad squad.

OVERALL GRADE: 9.3

Playtime calls her shot as her team executes their final plan in this exceptional chapter. Oswalt and Blum play into the deepest emotions of the team with a phenomenal script . Hepburn and Herring construct incredible images as everything falls apart. Minor Threats is a must-read series because of issues like this!
