STORY OVERVIEW:

Wolverine and Silver Sable are training the New Morlocks to protect themselves and defend their camp. Some of the mutants in the camp show promise, well others need a lot more training. Happy with the way things are going, Sable and Logan break away to share a drink and possibly more, before being interrupted as the camp was under attack. Not only was Department H back, but because of the ass kicking Wolvie gave them, they brought backup in the form of Alpha Flight. This is a group of mutants that have been imprisoned and hunt other mutants as a way to knock off time from their sentence. This obviously infuriates Wolverine, and the battle is on.

WRITING:

The story really picks up in this issue, not just with action, but also some great drama. Saladin Ahmed taps into the emotions of Logan, showing his compassion as well as his anger and rage. The deep caring for this camp and the wonderful training really allows us to see that softer side of Logan. However, the intruders bring out the true Wolverine that we all love for being a bad ass. Ahmed also ties a little bit of a love connection between Silver Sable and Wolverine. But the best thing that happens in this issue is the cliffhanger ending that will surely make every reader want the next issue now.

ARTWORK:

The artwork featured in this issue demonstrates a high level of quality and effectively conveys the intended narrative tone. Mike Henderson skillfully illustrates the setting and delivers dynamic action sequences. The character designs are distinctive and reflect the individuality of each character.

Jesus Aburtov complements the illustrations with carefully selected colors, enhancing the visual impact and drawing attention to the art. Additionally, Cory Petit's lettering reflects the story's tone and communicates the emotional nuances for the reader.
