STORY OVERVIEW:
Wolverine has been on a self-journey in the north of Canada where it’s just been him and at times a pack of wolves. As he tries to go out and get some supplies his jeep runs out of gas. He doubles back to a town that he had passed, only to find out it’s an abandoned town, or so it seemed. He is confronted by a couple of mutants before he is attacked by an unknown assailant. This assailant is revealed to be the Silver Sable, who has been hired by these mutants to keep them safe. After they discover Wolverine means no harm they calm down, but unfortunately this is just in time for soldiers to show up. Now Wolverine and Silver Sable have to defend the town from the outsiders.
WRITING:
The return of Wolverine is a welcomed one and sets the tone of where this series is headed. Saladin Ahmed does a great job of filling in the reader on what Logan has been up to, well seamlessly reentering him into society. Silver Sable is a nice touch for the protector and is a great complement to Logan. The lack of a lot of action in this issue isn’t as much of a detraction as what the issue is missing in action it makes up for in setting up the story. Entering this new arc across the entire X-Men Universe, it is important to make sure that Wolverine is around and ready to jump in.
ARTWORK:
The artwork in this issue is really good and captures the tone of the story perfectly. Martín Cóccolo does a great job of showing the pristine world Logan has been living in, before the scenary changes to a gloomier one as he enters the town. The character designs in this issue are also really good and capture the nature and uniqueness of the individual characters.
Jesus Aburtov does an excellent job of matching the colors to the art. This makes the art jump off the page and catch the reader’s eye. Meanwhile, Cory Petit’s letters show the tone of the story and capture the emotions the reader is supposed to feel.

Final Thoughts:
Wolverine #14 sets the table for where the series will go as we enter the new universe wide story arc. Although this issue is a little slower paced, it does a great job of setting up what is to come. This is fresh jump on point and should be a sure fire pick up this week and consider an addition to your Pull List.
