STORY OVERVIEW:
The Decepticons look on as Megatron is convulsing around and wondering how they can help him. Meanwhile, Megatron is being tortured by an unknown force who is trying to get him to realize his full potential. He will continually be ripped apart until he submits to this unknown force. However, due to his narcissistic personality his pride won’t allow him to submit, even for the promise of more power. But after ten thousand trials of punishment, Megatron is ready to give in. The questions that remain are, who is the mysterious power and what is the gift that Megatron will receive?
WRITING:
The agony of Megatron takes center stage in this issue. Robert Kirkman finds a unique way to make Megatron earn a possible new form. The anguish that Megatron must suffer through over and over again puts the reader in a weird spot of feeling bad for the ultimate villain. Kirkman also delivers on an epic surprise with the reveal of the mysterious power that is tormenting Megatron. To say business is picking up in this series is an understatement. First, we got a new Prime and now we are teased with a new and improved Megatron, Kirkman is really crushing it with the direction Transformers is going in.
ARTWORK:
The artwork in this issue gives the reader a front row seat to the torture of Megatron. Ludo Lullabi takes over the art in this issue and makes this story his own. The artwork perfectly depicts the agony and wearing down of the will of Megatron. The emotions that Lullabi shows with the art make the drama in the story much more powerful. Couple this with the complimentary color choices of Mike Spicer and the art team delivers an impactful and beautiful outing on this issue.
