WRITING:
The action in this issue is hot and heavy and makes this issue super exciting. Robert Kirkman jam packs this issue with so much action, but it is also full of story and meaning. Kirkman makes sure to highlight why the battle is going down, as well as the struggles both physical and mental. The fight to get to Soundwave is what drives the Decepticons, well revenge for Trailbreaker is fueling the Autobots. But the most genius part of this issue is the final page that reveals the biggest threat to Optimus Pime is his own Autobots. This really leaves the reader in suspense for the next issue of the series.
ARTWORK:
The artwork in this issue matches the energy of the story perfectly. Dan Mora brings the action to life as his art makes the battle in this issue feel larger than life. The carnage of the battle is shown in great detail. Add to this Mora’s character designs, and the reader has a front row seat for the battle of the century. Furthering the effectiveness of the artwork is the color pallet that Sarah Stern uses in this issue. The colors make the fight scenes much more brutal as well as making the art stand out. This art team really nails the art and shows why Transformers is one of the best-looking books on the shelves.
