Guggenheim teases the hidden saga of Imprimata to open events up. the hook is well staged that it’s an instant lock for readers. Once events shift to former Carabinieri cop Axel Jindari, the tone becomes more familiar to crime dramas. The interaction with Seeva Dessin is all business. It moves easily to the case at hand. Once at this stage, the layers start slowly peeling back on Axel’s required presence on this case.
Readers watch as Axel begins his breakdown of evidence. It is a move that unlocks his trained eye to see more. Axel has an unorthodox method in finding out more clues. This leads into something unforeseen. The fallout develops an excellent closing sequence. Pacing speeds up a touch to make the final shot so impactful. It works in delivering a knockout punch to conclude the chapter with. After reading it, there’s no way to simply walk away without wanting more.
Oezgen & Cabrera present the back story of Imprimata with a very detailed look. Panel structure walks the audience through the shifting times. It falls back to the present with a shot of Axel enjoying his new stat quo. Seeva’s injection to the story comes with guarded patience as Axel is reading the room. The tense grilling allows him to take the bait on the case. It doesn’t come with out a fair share of curiosity.
The visuals of Apperax build into the tension of the case. Axel’s reactions to the evidence is very visible in his actions. The big splash of his unique skills stands out. It is a quick presentation but does its’ job to launch into conflict. Readers watch as the brief altercation leads into uncharted water. This moves into a quick closing act. The art reflects the uncertainity mounting as events come into focus. It concludes with a show stopping full page. Seeing what is displayed, readers will have an extremely tough time waiting for round 2.

A forgotten past. An uncertain future. This leaves Axel Jindari in a state of flux in this dynamite first chapter. Guggenheim’s spectacular writing delivers on a compelling mystery. Oezgen & Cabrera wow readers with incredible imagery. An impressive debut with a knockout last page! You don’t want to miss this!
