The Story
The issue is explosive, filled with combat & feels like a classic Spider-Man story from days gone by. J Michael Straczynski does a fantastic job at bringing all of the plot points together and bringing about a satisfying conclusion to what’s been a great story from start to finish.
I particularly enjoyed the ending of the issue, because it does a good job at reminding us just who Peter is and what he has ahead of him in the overall timeline of his universe. Remember, he’s still in college during this series and he has a lot of trials and tribulations ahead of him. It’s always good to look back at where you’ve come from to appreciate where you are in life, and seeing this side of Peter is a great reminder of how great a character he is within the Marvel Comics Universe.
The Artwork
I really cannot emphasize enough just how good Pere Perez & Guru e-FX are with the art in this issue. It’s a comic printed in modern times, and it has a modern look. However they but they still continue to give it a classic feel that you’d get from reading a story set during Peter’s college days. The panels involving the battle were fantastic, and the final pages were just some of the most beautiful pages I’ve read in some time.
FINAL POINT: It’s a great issue that wraps of the story in a very familiar way, and reminds us just where Peter has come from along his long & storied journey. Together with some of the most spectacular artwork you’ll see this week, this is a series you should add to your collection.
Overall Grade: 8.5/10
