Tynion lets Rich take the opening monologue. Explaining the complex relationship with the powerful being shows the gravity of the current situation. Once a flashback is referenced, the mood becomes darker. Oliver’s tough speech with Walter causes instant friction between both. It challenges Walter’s confidence in his plans. Oliver’s composure is challenged while trying to reason with his friend. The end result is a gut-punch as to how much one character has been torn into during this ordeal.
Once time jumps back to present, the situation is becoming more grave. Reginald’s pain is getting worse as Hector oversees the panic. The writing is sharp as everyone in vicinity sees the trouble forthcoming. Readers watch as this only escalates further as Walter is being challenged by Oliver in present time. Their interactions are filled with fury. It matches Max’s time with the survivors. Once the audience sees all roads finally come together, it provides the spark fitting for the final moments. Tynion keeps applying pressure onto the scenario until a final action is taken. This rolls into a steady finish. Going by the final page, time is slipping further away as more questions will be looming heading into the finale.

Bueno and Bellaire start with Rich’s walk into the unknown. The Fall/Orange color scheme crafts a sense of warmth before heading into the past. Oliver’s talk with Walter gets a series of powerful two page spreads. Each point locks in on the deep feelings involved between the friends. It never hides from Walter’s cold posture as Oliver pleads his case. It caps off with enough reactions to move events into the next phase of Walter’s plans.
Hector’s transformation never misses on showcases the horror involved. Reginald’s pain is clearly on display as he maneuvers through the doomsday scenario. There is another series of planet reactions via full page. While subtle, they give readers a sense at how fast things are sinking. This moves events into the present drama with Max. One point that never escapes these pages is the weight involving each move. No matter if its’ Walter or Max, this point never disappears. It leads into a full shot of invested parties. A steady two page spread pieces together a questionable close while chaos picks up. Nothing will shake up readers more than the last page. The full image leaves no doubt at what is coming.

Walter makes a choice that shakes the remaining survivors to their core in this pen-ultimate chapter. Tynion hones in on the emotional tears into the groups while orchestrating the horrors. Bueno and Bellaire give a chilling insight into reactions with magnificent art. The end is here….who will survive?
