Venom #260 (Marvel Comics)

Hello there! Padawan J here, the resident Star Wars expert from the ODPH! This week I'm going to be reviewing the 260th issue of Venom from Marvel Comics!

The Queen In Black story is in full swing! One aspect of the story that still hasn’t been explained is Dylan Brock’s part in all this. It’s time to shed some light on it! Let’s jump into it!

The Story

This issue is part catch up if you aren’t up to date on what Venom has been up to during the first couple of issues of the Queen In Black story, but also filling you in on Dylan Brock and what his part in the story has been up to this point. It makes for some very compelling reading and sets up for a very intriguing continuation of the story in future issues.

I thought the way Al Ewing laid out the story in this issue was very interesting after catching everyone up on the story so far and then launching into Dylan’s story. Dylan has become such a focal part of the Venom story that it only makes sense for him to step up and take a bigger role in the story presently taking place.

I really liked the way it started to unfold with a sense of uncertainty as to what’s going on, before you reach that moment of realization as to what’s going on. I also really enjoyed the twists Ewing put along the way to really keep the story going at a good pace.

The ending also was particularly enjoyable as it leaves you wanting more and questioning how crazy it’s going to get before it’s all said and done.

The Artwork

Carlos Gomez & Frank D’Armata are back on the artwork for this issue and it’s as good as you should expect. It continues to be one of the best drawn comics you’ll read this week and the use of color is incredibly vivid. It has such a classic feel to it that long time fans of both Venom & Spider-Man will be sure to recognize and be familiar with. The artwork really does play off incredibly well with the story.

Overall Grade: 8/10

Al Ewing gets ups the ante with a tremendous story that will keep you turning the pages right up to the very end. Together with artwork that is simply spectacular, this is one of the best Venom stories you can read!
