STORY OVERVIEW:
Three months ago, Bruce and Betty were pulled out of the Requiem Plain by Skaar, which saved both of their lives. Now they are trying to fit in with their new lives in Muncie, Indiana. Now known as David and Heather they work at a Healthy Garden Vitamin Factory in the chemistry department. However, even though they try to move on they still have old tendencies and memories that won’t die. Betty especially is having a tough time dealing with her new “human” self and doesn’t want to just be normal. Bruce is still scared and ready to hide, but he can’t as Reed Richards and Tony Stark find him and ask for his help. After turning them down, Tony mocks him with no reaction. But deep-down Bruce knows this “peace” will not last, and his duty will call him to take on the Hulk.
WRITING:
This issue does a great job of showing us where and what Bruce & Betty have been going through since escaping the Requiem Plain. Phillip Kennedy Johnson does an amazing job of showing us the emotional turmoil both of them are going through. Johnson really humanizes the once monster and raged filled characters which really draw the reader to the characters. Their struggles are easily relatable for readers, which endears them to you. The lack of action would normally be a bad thing in a Hulk book, but in this issue, there is no need for action when the story is so heavy and good.
ARTWORK:
The artwork in this issue matches the tone of the story perfectly. The art team as a whole really shows the human side of Bruce & Betty well slipping in some flashes of their previous incarnations. The colors set the mood and indicate to the reader where you are at in the story and how the characters are feeling. Well, the lettering makes following the story simple and shares with the reader the reality of the situation our characters find themselves in.

Final Thoughts:
The Infernal Hulk #3 brings a strong emotional story to the table and allows the reader to see the world through Bruce & Betty’s eyes. The break from action and focus on the dramatic portion of the story really tugs at the hearts of the reader, while setting the stage for what’s coming next in this series. This series has really picked up and become a must read over the first three issues. Grab a copy at the LCS this week, add it to your Pull List, and get ready for an emotional ride.
