STORY OVERVIEW:
Hulk is on his way to Atlantis to capture more power. It is not Namor that interests the Hulk, instead the sea titan known as Ngathil the God Eater is his target. As the two goliaths lock horns there can only be one victor, and it is always going to be the Hulk. Showing off his dominance and power yet again, Hulk sends a warning to Namor that he will return to take Atlantis when he wants to. This leads Namor to ponder that they need to find Bruce Banner. Speaking of Bruce, we finally find out where he has been and it’s the last place anyone would think.
WRITING:
The Infernal Hulk #2 opens up the story a bit and starts to build upon where we find ourselves with the new Hulk. Phillip Kennedy Johnson does a great job of showing the threat of the Hulk and just how powerful this version of the Hulk is. The clash of the titans’ style fight feels huge, well the looming threat of the return of the Hulk to Atlantis is enough to scare anyone. But where Johnson really crushes it, this issue is the importance that is put on Bruce Banner and showing us where he is. The tease of catching up with Bruce is definitely enough to hold us over until the next issue.
ARTWORK:
The artwork in this issue stands out as truly awe-inspiring, immersing readers in the gory details of the unfolding story. Nic Klein & Kev Walker excel in their character design, capturing the essence of each figure and vividly depicting the world in which the narrative takes place. The highlight of Klein & Walker’s work comes during the intense battle between Hulk and Ngathil, where the sheer scale of the fight and the high stakes involved are powerfully conveyed through dramatic visuals. Matthew Wilson's choice of colors perfectly complements Klein’s art, utilizing vibrant, psychedelic hues to draw the reader’s attention to every panel. The dynamic color palette enhances the atmosphere and brings the action to life.
Final Thoughts:
The Infernal Hulk #2 ramps up the story, which raises the stakes in this new world we find ourselves in. The epic fight feel between Hulk and Ngathil plays a huge role in how big this issue feels. But where the story truly excels is with the tease of what’s to come with both the Hulk and Bruce Banner. The anticipation for what will come next is a perfect reason to grab a copy this week and order the next issue well you’re at it.
