The Story

Greg Weisman & Tad Stones continue their fantastic crossover that has been a dream to read as a 90’s kid. Demona has her claws on Qwackronomicon and is plotting world domination. Meanwhile you have Darkwing Duck & Goliath trying to stop her, and the other heroes following them to St. Canard to back them up. Greg & Tad continue to do an incredible job with the the crossover and how great it’s been.

I really enjoy how well the two teams play off of each other. I’ve said before that the tones of both shows is so different, but the crossover is done in a way that makes it seem so natural. I also liked the pairings that were done in this issue and how much sense they made. Goliath with Darkwing Duck, Angela with Gosalyn and Elisa with Morgana, it all makes so much sense when you read the issue. I didn’t give it any thought before this issue, but it makes sense that they’d split up cartoon style right? So of course they’re going to split in the way they do, it’s such a masterful decision that works so well.

I really enjoyed the way the issue played out and ultimately came to a close, because it felt like such a classic ending from a cartoon of that era. We’re so used to climatic, multi-episode battles that take forever to resolve but that is not the case here. If you’re familiar with either show from the 90’s it feels like such classic ending to either one of those shows.

The Artwork

Ciro Cangialosi & Agnese Eterno phenomenal work continues with this issue. They’ve done such a great job capturing the look and feel of both shows in a masterful way that feels like an immaculate love letter to both of those shows and the art style of the 1990’s. The artwork also makes it incredibly easy to jump into the story, even if you haven’t seen either show in a long time.

FINAL POINT: If you’re a 90’s kid and you’re not reading this issue then you are severely missing out on a tremendous story. It’s a story that takes two classic Disney cartoons and brings them together in a way that fans have wanted for so many years. An incredible story, and phenomenal artwork make this a series you do NOT want to miss out on.
