STORY OVERVIEW:

Jan and Jace are guests of honor as their Grandfather Dr. Henry Contra is unveiling his new revolutionary energy generator, the Antimatter Generator. Unbeknownst to him and his guests, one of his scientists is helping Dr. Cyclo in sabotaging the unveiling. This plan goes off the tracks and leaves Dr. Contra fighting for his life. Others escape grave energy only due to the quick response of Space Ghost. When Contra comes to, he isn’t acting like himself, including being very short with the kids. Meanwhile, at Cyclo-Tech Dr. Cylco is attacked by a new foe, the Antimatter Man. As Space Ghost investigates this attack it becomes clear to him who this new villain is, and it’s going to be a tough one for him and his family.

WRITING:

Just when you think David Pepose couldn’t manipulate your emotions any more effectively, he hits us with this issue. Pepose really ties in the Space Ghost family and the Contra family dynamic. As we have got to know and love Henry, that relationship now becomes more complicated and to no fault of the doctor. Showing us the transformation of the loveable doctor into this new monster really takes the reader by surprise. But then the realization of what this will mean for the kids really drives home how devastating this will become. My only complaint is we have to wait until next month to find out what happens next.

ARTWORK:

The artwork featured in this issue maintains the consistently high-quality characteristics of the Space Ghost series. Jonathan Lau demonstrates significant expertise, delivering visually compelling pages that reinforce his standing as a prominent artist within the industry. The distinctive design of Antimatter Man adds originality to the character.

Andrew Dalhouse’s color choices effectively complement Lau’s illustrations by enhancing the atmosphere and intensity of each scene. In addition, Taylor Esposito contributes further dimension with expressive lettering that conveys emotion throughout each panel. Collectively, this proficient art team continues to uphold rigorous standards, producing notable work that establishes their reputation for excellence within the series.
