STORY OVERVIEW:

Dr. Henry Contra reaches out to Space Ghost with a distress call from the Space Station Cosmos which signal was lost 3 days ago. The ship was traveling through Eclipse Sector 00Z4 when the last transmission was received. Upon reaching the station, Space Ghost and the team discover that the crew has been turned into Space Vampires. Well defending the kids, Space Ghost is bitten and makes the kids leave him before he turns. Jan reads the files and discovers that what has happened is they have been turned by the Forvalokka, who use a blood infection to create vampires. To save Space Ghost and the ship’s crew, Jan & Jace will have to find the Space Vampire King and take him out. Unfortunately, with his new powerful weapon in Space Ghost, that’s easier said than done.

WRITING:

This issue is an action-packed thrill ride starring Jace & Jan. David Pepose does a wonderful job of putting the focus on the two young heroes, well giving Space Ghost a lesser role. This was a nice and fresh way to remind the reader that the sidekicks can deliver when called upon. Don’t worry though as Pepose still made sure to give us that wonderful Space Ghost action as well. Pepose always shines brightest when he’s able to mix great action with great character emotion, and this issue delivers on both.

ARTWORK:

The artwork in this issue stands out as truly exceptional, maintaining the consistently high standards established throughout the Space Ghost series. Jonathan Lau delivers visually impressive pages, showcasing his remarkable skill and reinforcing his reputation as a leading artist in the industry. The Space Vampire designs, specifically Vampire Space Ghost, are some of the best character designs Lau has done, and that’s a high bar to hit.

Andrew Dalhouse complements Lau’s illustrations perfectly, using colors that enhance the mood and intensity of each scene. Meanwhile, Taylor Esposito adds further depth, infusing each panel with emotion through effective and expressive lettering. Together, this accomplished art team continues to set the bar high, producing one outstanding issue after another and establishing their excellence within the series.

Final Thoughts:

Space Ghost Vol. 2 #6 yet again is another awesome issue in a series full of awesome issues. Space Ghost is consistently for my money the best comic book on the shelf. This is not a knock to other books, yet high praise for the amazing creative team on this series. This is an action-packed series with a lot of heart and should be on everyone’s Pull List.

FINAL GRADE: 10/10
