STORY OVERVIEW:
Dante Ferno is confronted by the head of the Tiger Syndicate and is informed that he needs to come up with all the money he has lost betting on the C.A.T racing team. He reveals that this next race is a shoe in and they will have all their money back. His confidence comes from the fact that the next race is the Cypher City Grand Prix which is a new city and track that Dante Ferno built himself. With his best racer Kim Jugger having the inside scoop on all the tricky areas that were put in. Speed Racer & Racer X are at an extreme disadvantage, but the latter gets a hand from a friend that has the same revenge as him in mind, Hellkitten. Can Racer X overcome the stacked deck and find a way once again to stick it to Dante Ferno? Or will this finally be the end of the road for the Racer brothers?
WRITING:
This issue really goes back to the roots of this series and shared universe. Mark Russell goes racing heavy and since this is the bread and butter of this universe it is very welcomed. The racing action in this issue is some of the best in the series thus far and really kicks the story into high octane. The twists and turns of the race coupled with the usual shenanigans of our villains really stand out in this issue. Russell also excels in showing how evil and despicable Dante Ferno truly is. The disturbing lengths he will go to for power and money are astounding. Dante Ferno is becoming one of the biggest and greatest villains in comic history and a good portion of credit should go to Russell and they way he writes the character.
ARTWORK:
The artwork highlights the universe’s updated anime-inspired style. Nuno Plati handles the racing sequences with confidence, making the action feel dynamic and easy to follow. His depiction of Dante Ferno’s villainy is equally effective, reinforcing the character’s presence and impact on the story.
Giada Marchisio uses color to strengthen the story’s tone and energy, while Buddy Beaudoin delivers clear, effective lettering that enhances readability and supports the narrative’s emotional beats.
