*** POSSIBLE SPOILER WARNING ***

Flores kicks off with a throwback to a young Jayden’s upbringing. The encounter shows his involvement with dealing with some Eltarians. His dialogue with his parents mirrors the anger the boy feels. It is met with some resistance as the parents. Fast forward to present and the Shiba family reunion comes across with optimism and worry. The dialogue matches the caution as the elder Shiba re-assimilates to society. It is similar to a degree with what Orion and Rita are dealing with.

Having Triforians enter the field is a surprise. The writing shows Rita’s frustration with this development. Knowing her spell didn’t play out as it should causes some headaches. This leads to some impulsive action as the tensions finally hit a breaking point. Mark and Jun’s time in the story provides a break in the mounting drama to settle some feelings. Once this is completed, the story swings back to Jayden and Lauren. Readers notice a change is in the air. This carries into the closing pages. Flores leaves a strong cliffhanger to depart with as a choice needs to be made. No pressure right? A solid finish to a piece of the overall cataclysmic saga.

Sorressa and Lafuente delve into Jayden’s first interactions with the Eltarians. The action is brief but effective in moving the story forward. Once events jump to present, Jayden’s father takes center stage. The art shows hope and patience as the group tries cyphering what Mr. Shiba has going on. It’s a nice compliment to the rising drama with Rita and Orion. Her spell brought help but not the one she was looking for.

Readers watch as her patience runs out. The action panels start kicking into gear at this stage. This mimics the other rangers trying to navigate people through the frantic scenes. There’s a slow burn taking place with Jayden’s story which helps add to the overall picture. Panels jump from plot to plot with ease. Mark and Jun get a fair share of time before the issue swings to closing. Action starts ramping up at this stage. Orion get a key panel in play before Jayden’s crew comes across Rita. The art reveals the major swerve in plans on the final page. It leaves readers in a great spot to jump into the finale next issue.

FINAL GRADE: 8.6

The Rangers have got their hands full with opposition than they can handle. Flores’s writing unravels Jayden’s world amongst others with strong writing. Sorressa and Lafuente throw fantastic looks into play with their art. This series has been such a fresh take on Rangers comics. Make sure to check this out and prep for the finale!
