FANTASTIC FOUR #15 (MARVEL COMICS)

For 65 years, Marvel’s first family have wowed fans with their thrilling adventures.

Constantly challenging the laws of science, physics and even other worldly technology, The Fantastic Four have blazed quite the legacy.

Their latest challenge fits right into that formula as time and space are defied once again.

North’s current run has been a solid homage to the vision Jack Kirby laid out many years ago. Being thrusted back in time by Nicolas Scratch feels like another day at the office. Once the story revs up speed, it clearly heads into its’ own direction. Confronting a 15yr old girl named Clarina, the writing dabbles into exploring a new aspect of time travel. Running a loop with this character as she ages provides a unique tale. It represents what comprises all of winning elements of the team’s history.

As the story progresses to its’ finish, Clarina’s portion takes a strong turn. The dialogue reflects someone who’s been looking for a win. Chatting with the team, the instant connection is made. It moves to a bittersweet finish before handling events in the present. Readers take a fun trip down memory lane as the team revisits many landmark events in their past. As the final actions are taken, one fan-favorite moment FINALLY occurs. This leads into a more calm outro that encompasses all that follows this legendary family.

Ramos returns after some time away from the series and doesn’t miss a beat. The dire times of 1725 hide the unknown coming from the future. An incredible full page shot brings the Foursome into this era with many questions surrounding. This aura follows them on their return visit years later. Clarina’s focus is undeniable as she works to help the team. It leads into more scientific breakdowns as time is running out. The art shows how determined Clarina is to help with a few more full shots. Readers witness an emotional finihs to her portion sending events back to normal times.

Once here, the action detours into the classic moments of the teams’ legacy. Merging panels with legendary artists provides some fun nostalgia as they claw back to Scratch. In this phase, the art delivers on some solid action shots. None might be greater than Johnny Storm’s throwdown with the villain. The fallout results in a huge loss for Johnny but leads to a full page image of the team celebrating another huge victory. Solid work on display here.

FINAL GRADE: 8.8

A time traveling tale that honors the legacy of Marvel’s first family 65 years readers won’t want to put down. North takes this saga into a few unique places before leading to a superb finish. Ramos and the art team deliver excellent images fitting for the celebration at hand. It’s been a hell of a ride for 65 and here’s to many more!
