STORY OVERVIEW:

Father Julius gets ambushed by this new threat demon when he least expected it. This kicks off a domino effect of demon possessed persons on the loose. As all of the possessed join forces, their power is stronger than ever. They smite some of the Father’s, they give one boils and blind another, before eclipsing the Island under a dark evil cloud. Unfortunately for the fathers they are now also in a race against time as a plane that one of the possessed called for is on its way and about to land. The Exorcists must figure out a way to stop these demons before they can leave the Island. But back at the Vatican, it looks like the forces of evil may have taken the biggest name in the church hostage.

WRITING:

This issue really raises the stakes and threatens to bring the whole world down. Jordan Thomas does an expert job of creating threats and then making them worse. Just when you think the Exorcists couldn’t be facing a big enough threat, the threat grows tenfold. This really puts the reader on the edge of their seat and allows them to feel the tension build as the issue plays out. The suspense and air of mystery are sure to hook any reader.

At the same time Thomas also builds up an even greater threat that may play a bigger part in the finale. By showing the reader more of what may possibly be happening with the Pope, well also leaving the Pontiff in the hands of one of the evilest priests. Thomas has truly set the table wonderfully for next month’s final issue.

ARTWORK:

The artwork throughout this book adopts a simple style that nevertheless powerfully communicates the story's mood. Chris Matthews skillfully creates a horror-filled setting brimming with gore yet manages to keep the tone playful. The clean designs and thoughtful use of color help make the violent scenes easier for readers to digest. This strategy not only lessens the shock of the gory moments but also brings out the story’s more whimsical and entertaining qualities.

The artistic style might not suit all tastes, but it offers a whimsical twist on horror that makes it memorable. Readers looking for lively and visually captivating art will probably appreciate what this book has to offer.
