STORY OVERVIEW:
We go back to a year ago and catch up with Miguel and his training of the young woman. We discover that Miguel takes care of and eliminates pure evil for the church. On one of these excursions, Miguel took the girl with him, and she unleashed on a person who was abusing a young girl. This makes the church warn Miguel about his relationship with the girl and warn him about his training. Meanwhile, the richest of the boys who tortured her is hiding behind his mercenary bodyguard Cromwell. However, he soon finds out this won’t keep him safe and vengeance has arrived.
WRITING:
This issue really ramps stuff to a fever pitch going into the final issue. Kyle Starks puts the reader right in the middle of the trauma of our main character. Between the training and stalking of her torturer the suspense builds to a great climatic crescendo. Starks then delivers some awesome action and horror that satisfies the readers’ interest in the girls’ justified revenge. Starks also does a great job of building on the mystery of the possible fifth boy ahead of the finale of this mini-series. Between the range of emotions and the horror that unfolds, the story delivers on multiple facets.
ARTWORK:
The artwork featured in this issue is highly graphic, establishing an atmosphere that aligns seamlessly with the story's somber tone. Piotr Kowalski demonstrates considerable skill in capturing the horror embedded within each scene, effectively enhancing the narrative through visuals that are both impactful and evocative. His illustrations emphasize the unsettling nature of the storyline, underscoring that this publication is intended for a mature audience.
Brad Simpson further complements Kowalski’s work with carefully selected color palettes that reinforce the prevailing sense of despair and darkness. These color choices contribute meaningfully to the overall effect, ensuring the bleakness and intensity of the narrative are conveyed with remarkable clarity.
