STORY OVERVIEW:

The Northerner and Geiger receive a very special World War II tank from the mysterious puppeteers. Once inside of the tank, the Northerner explains in his original timeline the Confederacy won the Civil War, which later helped the Nazi’s win World War II. He then reveals, with the help of the puppeteers known as the Department of Historical Preservation, he fixed that timeline. Now he is here to reverse and fix the Unknown War. Tariq is rightfully skeptical but also has nothing to lose by going with him to Detroit. There are seats in the tank with the teams’ names on them, including Tariq’s and the Northerner’s, whose real name is Malcolm North. But there are also two other names, Mr. Pure and Ms. Hollow. But before they can get any more clues about the mission they come under attack.

WRITING:

The continuation of this crossover event shines some light on what is taking place, well still holding a lot back. Geoff Johns continues to reveal the details of the mission, while adding more surprises and easter eggs. The tease of the addition of Simon Pure from Redcoat to the crossover is sure to get fans of the Unnamed Universe super excited and talking. Johns also does a great job of tying in the alternative history that has brought this crossover to fruition. Operating between alternative history and this emerging Unnamed Universe allows the reader to immerse themselves in the familiarity of the Universe.

Final Thoughts:

Geiger #21 what this issue lacks in action, it more than makes up for in great storytelling. The back story coupled with the slow reveals and teases keep the reader engaged for the entire issue. This issue is warming the reader up for the bigger crossover that is on its way. With the crossover heating up, this is the perfect time to give this series a chance if you haven’t already. This should make your Pull List for sure.
