DAREDEVIL #7 by Stephanie Phillips, Flaviano Armentaro, Rico Renzi & Ariana Maher (MARVEL COMICS) continues its “Grim” reunion with a thrilling chapter.
Let’s take a look at where things stand now.

Phillips pushes Murdock into the deep end with this latest installment. His frantic attempts to stop the bloodshed are having little success. They are stopping some with no regard for the damage done to himself in the process. Readers see a running list of familiar faces take their shot at getting the prized item. Tombstone’s dialogue is prime example of how far one will go to win. His involvement amplifies the danger as Murdock tries getting a witness to safety.
His “frienemy” The Owl makes strides to help where he can. Their banter is perfect to cut through the tension. Readers watch as more threats come fast and heavy. It allows Matt to release some rage with quick combat. Once he emerges from the fight in the underground, his world gets rocked. Elektra’s appearance complicates many events. Their talk is pouring with heavy emotions. It leaves events in a very awkward state. Murdock’s handling of affairs was already on thin ice. The final page indicates fans haven’t seen anything yet.

Flaviano and Renzi open with a stylish grid page featuring Matt’s broken demeanor. This kicks off a fantastic run of two page spreads. Matt’s wild runs through the city are exploding off the pages. Tombstone’s maniacal look sends shivers to the audience as he constructs his plans. The full page fight between DD and the Tracksuit Mafia nails the landing as it moves Matt into a deeper portion of the drama. Once here, the tone swings into a desperate state.
Murdock’s attempts to save a witness of the evidence begins to spiral out of hand. The Owl’s assist appeases some tension as it allows for a fast reset. Readers watch as the journey isn’t so peaceful as others try to gain what they think the witness has. The underground fight has a few pages readers will be blown away by. It moves events into the personal encounter all have waited for. Matt’s reaction is less than welcoming as Elektra attempts to talk. It leaves with a bold full page with uncertainty abound. Excellent work.
FINAL GRADE: 8.8
Matt Murdock’s search for evidence leads into an unwanted reunion with the City in the crossfire. Phillips keeps a fast-moving plot while the drama builds to explode. Flaviano and Renzi go to extremes with the phenomenal action on display. A devilish look at the struggles of conscience and justice.
