Fleecs takes a trip back in time befoe Kane moves to her next phase. The throwback look shows a much more calm stage as Kane and Wintergreen converse about her pregnancy. In their field of work, there’s no easy way to hide this news for long. The choice to delay helps get the focus back on their seek and rescue mission at hand. Readers see a glimpse of the covert lifestyle as the trio goes on their hunt.
Readers watch as every move becomes more dangerous to take. The writing never lets Kane escape her secret via Wintergreen’s quips. This leads right into a hostile situation. It doesn’t take long for punches to start flying. This picks up speed while one action will make readers gasp. This moves to a fateful stand-off. The writing doesn’t hold back with Slade and Kane arguing. Had it not be for the conflict, who knows how this would go. It results in a fast finish while time jumping to present. Once here, the meeting becomes cautious and reflective. One door closes while another seems to be ready to explode.

Di Giandomenico & Plascencia take the opening and closing portion while Wacher handles the flashbacks. The opening pages show a somber side to Kane. It leads into the throwback time period. Wintergreen’s caring looks ease into the tense mission at hand. A superb two page spread shows a young Slade gearing for action. The expressions shown portray a different sense of purpose in the hardened killer. This carries through while working in the shadows.
Once inside the location, a terrifying half panel works to stage some conflict. Abbott’s lettering stands out during this sequence. It showcases Slade doing what he loves. All the while, his supporting cast has their hands full. Once the bullets stop, a half panel shows everyone who the asset is to acquire. This pushes towards more personal moments between Slade and Kane, showing neither to back down. More fast action caps off the mission in style. The final act brings events to months before the present as Kane makes a shocking deal. The near full shot delivers on its’ impact as a new era begins.
