Ever since connecting with the Omnitrix, the young boy has been dealing with his transformations into monstrous creatures. The US Army hasn’t been so patient with Ben about learning to control this problem. It’s about to get much worse.
KRAAB has arrived and that spells nothing but disaster.

WRITING:
The writing pushes Ben’s secrets out in the open right from the jump of this chapter. His conversation with Gwen switches quickly from a defensive stance into a scared child coming to terms. It’s offset by Kraab’s continued advances against the US army. Tensions run high as the alien is destroying all in its’ path. The attack causes some drastic actions. Readers quickly find out the Ben’s not the only one with a few secrets coming to light in this story.
As his grandfather tries taking the reigns of control, the writing unveils more to his true nature than expected. The result puts the young boy into an uncomfortable dilemma. Once his choice is made, the story ramps up the pacing. There is a healthy dose of action commencing. Seeing Ben struggle to handle his new foe grounds him enough to invest the audience. It results in a solid finishing stage. The writing moves the fallout into multiple directions. Each path holds enough wonder behind it to cement the closing pages. Readers get another haunting proclamation as the story wraps. It’s enough to lock in the audience for another round without question.

ARTWORK:
Carey and Spiller open with a full shot of Gwen trying to take out a transformed Ben on accident. Her look of curiosity grows when she realizes who’s behind the monster. It provides a solid pivot point before the art shows a darker direction. Kraab’s display of violence is given a near full shot. Spiller’s coloring in this sequence steals panels as the brutality takes over. It leads to another round of great monster action which is something this series is developing a nice reputation for.
Readers watch as Ben’s latest transformation gets an incredible full shot. The brawl leads into a wild sequence of combat panels. There are some stumbling blocks put on Ben’s menu during this ordeal. His worried looks make a strong connection to the readers. The panels peel back his fear into a growing confidence as another step takes place. It leads into another strong full shot, setting the stage for the closing fight. This assists in moving the chapter into a better finish. Readers get a great parting page to wrap up events for now, but many questions of Ben’s future to macth.
FINAL GRADE: 8.5
Kraab’s showdown withBen Tennysonleads into more uncharted territory for the upstart hero. The writing peels back more layers of Ben’s new stat quo with a great script. Carey and Spiller bring forth excellent art for huge action. This series continues to impress with its’ fresh take on the animated hero’s journey.
