STORY OVERVIEW:
Battle Beast finds himself in a fight with both the Colossus and Juggernaut of Emsiu. Even though they are bigger than him, neither appear to be the warrior that Battle Beast is. As he slices and dices his way through these massive foes, Salaka leads the villagers to safety so they will not become collateral casualties of this battle. Battle Beast has accepted that this will either be a great victory or his peaceful death. However, well all of this is going on, something else is brewing that no one has a clue about.
WRITING:
This issue brings the action and just when you think the action is over, more action! Robert Kirkman takes us through an epic battle and doesn’t disappoint with the action it delivers. Battle Beast may be outnumbered but he is a menace and Kirkman shows us in great detail what he’s capable of and how far he will go. The fighting and brutality of the fight takes center stage and really brings excitement to this issue. The only detraction is that it feels like the story takes a back seat this issue for the sake of the gratuitous violence. However, this is the world of Invincible, so we definitely came for this violence.
ARTWORK:
The artwork in this issue is stunning, brilliantly bringing the world to life. Ryan Ottley impresses with every detail—from distinctive character designs to immersive backgrounds that pull readers into the story. The fight scenes are depicted with graphic detail and violence which gives the reader all the feels. Ottley definitely doesn’t shy away from the gore either. The visuals are further enhanced by Annalisa Leoni’s choice of colors, which not only set the mood and tone but also make the illustrations leap off the pages.

Final Thoughts:
Invincible Universe: Battle Beast #8 is an action-packed violence fest that will have every reader in a bloodlust. Even though the advancement of the story takes a slight back seat, the action more than makes up for it. This being only the second issue of the new arc, and it sets a tone and pace for what this arc will bring to readers. If action is your thing, this issue has you covered and then some.
