Superboy finds out first hand as his time travelling continues. This time, his adventures have led him back to his home planet of Krypton! Tagging along with Kara Zor-El as she chases Ursa, young Clark Kent sees himself back to a time forgotten.
During their fight, Ursa and Kara have both been captured and turned over to ZOD! This leaves an inexperienced boy of tomorrow to somehow save the day and timestream!

Waid lets young Clark monologue the intro to Krypton through his eyes to open. The words are impactful as the boy sees his home world that was lost to him forever. It also pushes him to act on his feet as time is starting to slip away. Events swing back to Earth with the plague taking more victims. The writing stages this as a global disaster which even the Justice League can’t handle. Seeing the Martian Manhunter and Mary Marvel as a low point drives this element home.
Readers also witness the people of El Caldero struggle to survive. Their dialogue indicates how fragile their confidence of survival has become. This in a weird sense of connection taps into young Clark’s valiant actions. Waid stages this plan with dashes of luck in-between. It offsets Zod’s direct orders and volatile acts. The interactions with Kara and Ursa are tense until a break falls their way. The moment sends one character into a state of panic trying to fix history. In the process, a painful mistake puts all in jeopardy. This magnifies even more in the finish. Waid crafts a bittersweet goodbye into a survival challenge as more danger confronts them at the worst possible time. The last page says it all. Very solid issue.

Montos and the art team open with full page image of Clark in Krypton. It gives his viewpoint a much larger feel as he is pushed into duty. Once events move to the Justice League, panels flood with a sense of dire circumstances. The Atom’s full page image overlooking the world collapse makes a bold statement. It matches the growing fear happening in El Caldero. Reactions show worry as the situation is spiraling more and more out of control.
As events swing back to young Clark, readers watch his uncertainty start developing belief. It is a much calmer scene than Zod’s interrogation. The looks of fear and frustration take over panels as he attempts to impose his will. Panel close-ups of his eyes tell a story all their own. This spins into fast paced action as a break happens. A brief pause of the Super Family reunion snaps pacing to allow a solid set-up push for the final act. After a dangerous mistake, a full page image gives readers a long awaited moment. The art team constructs a heartbreaking sequence only to be upended by a stunning full page image. This kickstarts the last images of the book with much worry behind them. Great issue.
FINAL GRADE: 8.5
The return to Krypton is not without consequences as hope is slowly dying on Earth! Waid’s writing pushes a novice Superboy into a mian event fight. Montos and the team spotlight the running emotions involved with an unforeseen homecoming. A super event living up to its’ hype!
