Ewing takes readers into a lost time via diary entries of an agent with much on their plate. Paul Kirk’s diary breaks down the trials and tribulations with outside forces. Teasing the “Yellow Aliens” adds some intrigue as Kirk’s actions come with consequences. The writing allows more suspense to build until shaking things up with a bold move. A new team is formed to handle the threats of the 1940’s that instantly brings problems.
As diary entries switch, the writing starts becoming more gritty in delivery. It steers events into uncertain spots, with trust coming at a premium. Readers can sense the dirty work being done until it reaches a breaking point. The result is a terrifying reality that sinks further into its’ base. This allows the closing points to hit their marks. A major reveal goes down that will echo with fans. It’s been a while coming but long overdue to complicate matters here even more. Brace for the closing page.

Lindsey opens with a bookcase-style for panels, welcoming in Kirk to the Manhunters’ path. A solid two page spread rattles events as it questions reality vs. fiction. Pages start locking in on this notion as Gattoni’s lettering moves readers through the tense stages. It moves one character into a very unlikely spot. The brighter coloring teases fear as their story goes off grid.
As Donald Richard’s diary entries come to light, panels get very dark. It sends the message of grave consequences attached to this mystery. His story takes a few twists until coming to a show-stopping halt. The foreshadowing of one’s demise is unavoidable. This moves events into a trippy two page splash where the Manhunters stand out. It’s fallout returns to the present with a violent splash.
Chase’s investigation shows the wear in her face. The frantic breaks usher in the startling closing pages. Once here, readers get some unexpected surprises, none greater than the final page. The full image drops a huge exclamation point before bowing out. Readers will be buzzing about this finish.

The Manhunter file unlocks more danger than bargained for with this latest installment. Ewing plays up the espionage with a solid script. Lindsey and Gattoni throw multiple looks at the readers while the file is exposed. Fans aren’t ready for what they’re gonna see on that final page!
