*** POSSIBLE SPOILER WARNING ***

Barbiere & Rhodes tease more of the horror aspects while adding in a touch of surprise for this installment. The opening talk with Braxir/Chris casts a cold shadow on events as Rhys attempts to figure out the real picture. His chat with Frankie eludes to the growing concerns of what “Chris” has been up to. It doesn’t take long for their fears to garner some speed. A chilling message on the wall sets off more paranoia as they process their next moves.

Readers watch as the fear grows larger within other characters. Spencer’s curiosity moves to tension as his words convey the magnitude of Braxir’s plans. This is a nice compliment to Rhys’ uneasiness. Their search is very straight forward as the dialogue never forgets the dangers growing. It breaks only to show Braxir’s manipulations bullying more innocents. This pushes events into a most peculiar close. As more clues becomes available, the writing takes a massive detour in the close. It is a solid swerve that looks to pay some dividends as the finale draw near. A more focused chapter that leaves readers wanting more.

With both being key factors in this case, their expressions show their fragile states. The doubt grows larger with Frankie’s arrival. Watching the interactions unfold pushes the story into the natural horror fit. A small panel reveals a loud warning of what’s coming without remorse. This provides a great pivot point to switch focus on.

As both key groups discover more unsettling facts, panels dive into some cold places. Braxir’s torture of a player attempts a slow burn of impact. A solid two page spread unveils Spencer’s grand attack on Braxir’s movements. Readers watch as events circle back to smaller panels as the frightening reality comes into view. There’s no shortage of suspense building with the art. This launches into the final page. A wild full image shows more than expected as the story takes a path unforeseen heading into the next round. The art is very direct and to the point for what’s needed here.

FINAL GRADE: 8.2
