X-Men ‘97: Season Two #4 (Marvel Comics)
Hello there! Padawan J here, the resident Star Wars expert from the ODPH! This week I'm going to be reviewing the 4th issue of X-Men ‘97: Season Two from Marvel Comics!
Following the smash hit of season one of X-Men ‘97, fans are very eager to learn what’s happened to their favorite group of mutants! So just who is the heir of Apocalypse? Let’s jump into it!

The Story
Steve Foxe’s work in the series continues to excel with a story that feels like it fits seamlessly with what we’ve watched from season two on Disney+, and seeing this play out after the season has ended is equally intriguing. It all makes for compelling storytelling and an issue that is sure to impress.
The issue feels like it’s starting to bring several threads together for an inevitable conclusion that’s coming in the next issue. We get to see the overall story develop a little bit more while the stakes get raised even further. Steve does a great job making the issue feel like an episode from the series with how chaotic things get, especially when you think of this issue as a later in the season episode.
Perhaps the most intriguing part of the story is what we see taking place with X-Force and just how crazy that part of the timeline is getting. It also feels like that’s where everything is going to ultimately end up converging in one last final climactic battle. I also get the feeling given the way this issue ends, and the way the season ended on TV, we’re getting a tease for what we might expect from season 3 on Disney+. It’s just a hunch, but we’ll see in time if I’m right.
The Artwork
Salva Espin & Matt Milla are in charge of the artwork for this issue and they both continue their incredible work at capturing the look from the animated series in such an incredible way. Their ability to capture the look and feel of the classic series is simply spectacular and helps make the readability increase that much more. It really looks like an episode of the series adapted in comic form.
Overall Grade: 8/10
A great issue that leaves you wishing you could read the next issue right now. Steve Foxe tells a story truly worthy of the X-Men name and feels like it’s right out of the series on Disney+. Together with artwork that is very familiar, this is an issue X-Men fans casual or die hard will not want to pass up on.
