*** POSSIBLE SPOILER WARNING ***
Kara’s latest landing spot seems too good to be true. The writing shows how the misplaced Kryptonians embrace the rays. This leads to some wholesome moments while Kal is now developing his powers. Their banter is pleasant and a break from the more serious problems that have been following them. It provides much needed relief before ushering in the issue’s main conflict.
Readers watch as the main “villain” is a natural occurrence. The dialogue sharpens to panic as Kara assesses the new dangers. It amps up the drama as the pair are now thrown into the fire of their new home. This puts Kara into a complicated scenario. The end result welcomes in a new player with questionable motives. Their banter is inquisitive but generates some possibilities. It leads into a curious final act with suspense looming around its space. Very deceptive in presentation.
READ LAST ISSUE’S REVIEW!
Reis presents a calm look at Kara’s journey with the opening stages. Kal smiling begins a happier state of peace. An excellent full shot of Kara flying mirrors the same sentiments. Panels start unlocking Kal’s powers with much awkwardness in the exchanges. It indicates better times are ahead. This leads to a series of smaller panels showing the pair hovering overhead, It becomes fleeting as a greater problem heads their way.
A daring half panel brings the dangers right to their doorstep. Once calm panels, the art flips the moment into another round of survival. Readers watch as they both go through some strong emotions to push forward in the chaos of the situation. Once the tide breaks, the latest key player gets a page introduction. They craft some curiosity as the expressions are hard to read. Only one character is showing any cards here. Kal’s naive nature steals some scenes as events go to close. The final pages tease more drama ensuing with Kal’s curious face onlooking. Great visual ride on display here.
FINAL GRADE: 8.4
A new player enters the game of survival with mystery surrounding them in this latest installment. Parker & Sheridan ease into the crushing drama with a steady path. Reis orchestrates brief happiness while presenting looming threats with the art. This isn’t your average Supergirl story by a longshot
