STORY OVERVIEW:
Violet and Walter are being chased by the Outlaws when they are all ambushed by the Ghosts. As Violet and Walter take cover, some of the Outlaws are snatched by the Ghosts. Walter’s energy is wiped out, but the two are safe for now. The same can’t be said about Warren who was infected by the rot from the Ghosts. This makes a hard choice for his friend Errol the more Warren turns. Meanwhile, David is in a cage awaiting being shipped to the Salt Mines. But he has other plans as he needs to get back to his daughter Violet.
WRITING:
This issue ups the suspense while also revealing more about this post-apocalyptic world our characters find themselves in. William Harms starts to reveal even more in this hellscape of a world. Explaining how if the Ghosts get you the “rot” sets in and you become one of them, makes this feel like a zombie survival story of course with a twist. Also, the reveal of the Outlaws plans for the prisoners adds a sense of urgency for David. Harms also brings us closer to Violet and Walter which adds a great deal of drama and caring to the story. They become the true heart of the story and become the readers’ characters to cheer and care for.
ARTWORK:
The artwork presented in this issue demonstrates a precise representation of the world depicted, complemented by notable character designs. JP Mavinga offers a unique vision of an apocalyptic landscape, effectively illustrating its complex history and conveying both mood and emotional depth. The creativity evident in Mavinga's ghost designs distinguishes his work. Furthermore, Lee Loughridge's deliberate color choices contribute significantly to the narrative's immersive quality, allowing readers to connect meaningfully with the story's atmosphere.
