Void Rivals #35 By Robert Kirkman, Conor Hughes,Patricio Delpeche &Rus Wooton (Skybound Entertainment/Image Comics) continues the space woes’ for the EU’s favorite pair!

Let’s take a closer look at the latest.

*** POSSIBLE SPOILER WARNING ***

Kirkman has some fun with this latest chapter as the Transformers rogue crashes the party. The initial encounter with Predacron is meet with resistance as he refocuses events to Rom. One unexpected factor in this equation is Pythona. Her drastic action is accompanied by venomous words. This forces a rapid halt of movement. Readers watch as her dangerous bet pays off in unexpected ways, primarily with the latest addition.

The sci-fi element amplifies as a result of this cold action. It forms a weird response from onlookers as Skuxxoid’s persona shifts. The mood feels more sympathetic while causing more problems with Pythona. A major reveal becomes the catalyst for a downward spiral. The dialogue on display here is unapologetic as the reveal is too great for one to handle. This moves events t an uneasy close. For Darak and Solila, their path is met with another major reveal. It leaves events on shaky ground as even the toughest warrior can’t survive the impact of this blow.

READ LAST ISSUE’S REVIEW!

Hughes and Delpeche keep panels moving at a high pace with key drama made very clear to the audience. Skuxxoid’s arrival is met with mixed impressions. This doens’t have much time to sink in as Predacron goes after Rom via half panel. The actions halts fast as Pythona takes center stage. A solid half panel tips her hand as she becomes involved. This forces a pause in the action, while exposing new sides of personalities.

None might be greater than Skuxxiod’s response to events. An intense half panel shows his surprising move play out. This is met with great anger and a troubling half panel reaction. Once this is thwarted, a new discovery is exposed. It causes a wide range of looks to commence as this upsets some of the surviving group. Hughes’ emphasis on eye reactions sell the scene perfectly. The moves allow for the ending sequence to begin on a somewhat high note. As noted by one character, it seems as someone found some happiness along this latest trip. This feeling becomes dashed quick by a pair of near full page reveals and reactions. The looks send readers away with much to digest as all bets are off from here.

FINAL GRADE: 8.4

Skuxxiod enters the game with nothing but trouble on his mind. Kirkman keep things surprisingly more grounded with this latest chapter. Hughes and Delpeche craft solid imagery as new reveals take place. There’s never an off season with this series for good reason.
