Venom #262 (Marvel Comics)

Hello there! Padawan J here, the resident Star Wars expert from the ODPH! This week I'm going to be reviewing the 262nd issue of Venom from Marvel Comics!

We are all Venom! Literally! So just how does this end up? Let’s jump into it!

The Story

This issue does a great job wrapping up the Al Ewing run on Venom, while also setting the stage for what’s to come from the Charles Soule. It delivers a very satisfying conclusion to that story, and delivers it in such a way that lives up to the hype. It’s an issue that fans are surely going to enjoy, and wraps up the entire Queen In Black story in a nicely wrapped bow.

I like how the whole story wraps up everyone’s stories in a nice way that feels like the ending to a long movie. Yes, we know the characters story is continuing, but if you were to stop reading the story after this issue you’ll be left with a satisfying end. The issue also does well to give some interesting character development for Mary Jane. Where this is going to lead for her is anyone’s guess, but I suspect it won’t be back to where she was before.

The Artwork

Carlos Gomez & Frank D’Armata are back on the artwork for this issue and it’s as good as you should expect. It continues to be one of the sharpest drawn comics on the stands each week. Being the final issue before the renumber it did a great job rising to the occasion of the final issue. There’s also one page in particular towards the end that’s a full page of art that really is a testament to how good the art is.

Overall Grade: 8/10

A solid ending to the Al Ewing run of Venom. A good story, together with artwork that is spectacular make this an issue you can’t pass up on.
