The Witcher: Blood Stone #3 (Dark Horse Comics)
Hello there! Padawan J here, the resident Star Wars expert from the ODPH! This week I'm going to be reviewing the 3rd issue of The Witcher: Blood Stone from Dark Horse Comics!
Geralts journeys have lead him to some interesting places, but perhaps none as mysterious as the town of Plinth. Mysterious attacks, and a mystery that cannot be explained. Will Geralt finally solve the mystery? Or will things only get more mysterious? Let’s jump into it!

The Story
Daniel Freedman continues the incredible storytelling from the last issue into this one! It’s an action packed issue that deepens the mystery in a way that should feel familiar to fans of the franchise.
The story being told in this story really does feel like one that could have been included in one of the games as a side quest and it works so well. The story has such a flow to it that feels like an entry into any one of the various iterations you might be familiar with. I also really like how despite Geralt being an incredibly accomplished Witcher in his own right, he still isn’t 100% sure how to solve this mystery.
The chaotic feeling throughout the issue, and the series really, has really played into setting this story a part from others you might’ve experienced before. Just when you think Geralt might have everything figured, it takes a turn and all of a sudden he’s behind the 8 ball again.
The ending sets up for what’s sure to be an exciting finale, and I cannot wait to read it. The series is going to only be 4 issues as I’ve said before. So Freedman really hasn’t had any time to fluff out the story and fill it with something on the side. Instead it’s been action packed from start to finish. This really has been one of the better Witcher stories I’ve read in a while.
The Artwork
Pius Bak & Roman Titov continue to do a spectacular job with the artwork. The art style is so unique and different from other series you might read, and it works so incredibly well for this series. There’s a grittiness and a sense of how rough it is, but that’s exactly what the world of The Witcher is. It’s gritty, it’s messy and it isn’t pretty. That said, it is some of the best artwork you’ll see this week.
FINAL POINT: This series has been such a joy to read, and this issue is no different. A story that’s sure to keep you on the edge of your seat, together with spectacular artwork to match. This is an series you can’t miss if you’re a fan of The Witcher.
Overall Grade: 9/10
