*** POSSIBLE SPOILER WARNING ***
Jenkins puts more pressure on Reynolds shoulders to compile matters further. The plague is straining the heroes to a breaking point. Reynolds’ talk with best friend Reed Richards goes in a few directions. It comes with some anger until Bob reveals his dog’s status. The mood changes slightly until Richards gets back to business. At this stage, Bob has tuned him out. Events shift over to the attacks on Wilson Fisk. Readers witness the damage the Void has unleashed on him. It is a powerful moment before events change gears.
The Hulk portion starts as one would expect. He is infected and raging. The ensuing scuffle plays out to a breakpoint. Their talk is one of old friends in dealing with recent events. Banter is more somber but hits key aspects. This leads to the closing act of the chapter. Lindy’s talk with Bob is direct and empathetic. Her ability to break through helps to move his issues in discussion. The final moments throw a small curve into play. It is a telling sign of what is lurking behind the scenes.
Rosado & Milla put Bob in the center of the outbreak to begin events. The talk with Reed is reflected with some anger and worry. Bob’s eyes tell a story unto themselves. Each panel shows his sadness growing. This moves events to the drama with Wilson Fisk. Reporter reactions show the impact of the Void’s moves. It aligns with the shock what the doctors have found. A full image of Fisk dying in a hospital bed will have fans talking.
Bob’s brief fight with the Hulk has some solid action moments attached. It spins into a calm finish by campfire. Even with all the problems around them, the art shows the friends as relaxed as possible. It’s a contrast from Lindy’s scenes. Her frustration is very clear as she processes what is going on. Even as Bob shows up, her sense of doubt doesn’t leave. It comes to a solid finish as Bob verbalizes his emotions of the moment. The final panel adds some intrigue to the ever evolving saga.
FINAL GRADE: 7.5
The Sentry’s encounter with the Hulk goes in a more calm direction than expected in this latest chapter. Jenkins lets Bob open up to his closest allies with a steady script. The art team keep events very grounded with a true battle within. It is a very different take than most superheroes get to spotlight.
