*** POSSIBLE SPOILER WARNING ***
Healy takes Kilgore into his conflicting role with this latest chapter. Heading undercover into a church sparks deep emotions. His personal guilt weighs heavy while trying to navigate the situation. The opening talk with Father Morozov comes off innocent enough. It’s once the pair gets walking through the dark corridors that events start sinking into devious spaces.
Readers watch as Morozov’s true nature starts creeping out. The writing sets this up with a solid build to move Kilgore into a startling place. The encounter with another prisoner sparks a variety of emotions. It becomes a catalyst for refocusing. Kilgore’s internal doubts amplify the pressure of his rescue. This leads into a thunderous close and plenty of action. Healy leaves events with an excellent cliffhanger ending as Haunt’s faith is tested to the extreme.
Gay and Ramos open with a full page shot of Kilgore outside the church. His expressions show the hesitations of his new mission. Once inside, the art captures the classic look of a cathedral with Morozov standing guard. Readers watch as the Father’s mannerisms seem safe until a subtle panel switches events. This leads into a more isolated meeting where the face-off between Kilgore and Morozov begins to turn.
A half page image of Morozov’s handler taking Kilgore away creates an uneasy feeling with Ramos’s coloring elevating the danger. Readers watch as the prisoner meeting conveys the failures of a father looking to get justice. Panels quickly flip a switch as Kilgore prepares for what’s coming. This leads into an action packed closing act. A furious right hook ignites the combat in a loud way. This helps to transition Kilgore into his more suitable attire via half panel. The finish is a strong one as a bold final page drops an exclamation point on events! This story isn’t going to be ones for the faint of hearts. Get ready.
