Healy presents a dark reality to the team right off the bat. Their mission pushes forward as their opposition is overwhelmed. Jessica’s monologue welcomes readers into the current mental state of the team. The tone is direct and blunt. There is nothing pulled back. It matches the intense action swirling around them. Just as readers think the win is in reach, an event happens that rocks even the toughest of the squad. A safe is exposed and its’ contents shake everyone to their core. It is an intense moment that Jessica just justifiably walk away from.
It results in being the lit match to the powder keg waiting to explode. Jessica’s addressing of Medieval Spawn turns into a violent release. Once cooler heads prevail, Jessica has a moment of truth that shakes everything up. Readers witness her proclamation and the fallout commencing. Her talk with Al Simmons is business but with more direct shots concerning affairs. The intensity jumps on each panel. It sets up the shocking finale of the direction of the team. This will have fans talking and opens up an endless door of possibilities. Everything you want from a new jumping on point!
Vitti & Ribeiro open with a tense build before a full page shot welcomes the team to a fight. The action goes heavy as the bullets start flying. Each strike jumps off the page. As a desperate action is taken, Jessica’s reaction screams of the problems it will cause. The two page spread brings a deadly end to the fight. In its’ aftermath is an uncomfortable moment. The full page image of Jessica standing inside the vault eludes to the horrific discoveries inside.
This eerie feeling boils over to a release of frustration. Jessica’s fight with Medieval starts with a fantastic full page shot. The art gives this a huge feel as it escalates. Once the smoke clears, Jessica’s demeaner shows how broken they all have become. Spawn’s meeting with her carries a heavy weight of importance. Both are professionals and the mutual respect is on full display. This moves into the shocking close. Another huge two page spread opens the door for the new reset of Jessica’s focus.
