Healy brings a new threat into the Spawn Universe with a bold introduction. The Prince Of Cats watching Jessica’s team work through Belarus sets an eerie feel to the starting point. This allows the writing to show off his devilish charms. His tone never breaks from confidence as he starts his deadly interrogation of a prisoner. Readers can appreciate the “Bond Villain” posture he carries while doing his work. It allows a pivot point to swing time back to a recovering Jessica Priest.
Her conversation with Trent amplifies the importance of Belarus. Their talk is very business forward. Once a play is made, Jessica is quick to react. Her strategy in brokering a bargain works well to take control of the panels. Readers see the new mission laid out before her with high stakes behind it. Brokering a compromise moves events into a steady finishing point. Healy never lets Jessica stray too far off the task at hand. Once ready, the final page debuts her new plan in motion. Another action packed ride is about to begin.
Gay and Ramos take over art duties and make an impactful first impression. The opening pages recap the carnage form last issue’s assault. A half panel shows the team at work. It jumps out a bit due to Jessica’s smile while she works. As panels move forward, the tease of the villain starts growing stronger.
