Just as the heroes go to engage, One Above All swoops in and goes after the Hulk. After a short battle Hulk dispatches of this would be savior. This makes the other heroes decide to retreat and regroup for another day. While this is going on Bruce and Betty go to give their support to Nattie but instead find a horror that they weren’t expecting.
WRITING:
This issue juggles a few different timelines but does it well and without confusion. Phillip Kennedy Johnson taps into the horror of this crazy world and really delivers. The drama of the funeral of Tommy Watson brings a stark reality to what’s going on and pays this off with a real horror scene at the end of the book. Johnson does an amazing job showing the fight between Hulk and One Above All. But the retreating of the other heroes in response to the outcome speaks volumes about how dangerous this version of Hulk truly is.
ARTWORK:
The artwork featured in this issue demonstrates both originality and creativity. The art team skillfully brings the setting to life with elements that subtly evoke a Willy Wonka-inspired atmosphere. Backgrounds incorporate imaginative fantasy objects with a touch of horror, resulting in an environment that provides the Hulk with a distinctive and innovative space. The quality of the landscapes complements the well-executed character designs. Moreover, the effective combination of dark and vibrant colors enhances the overall visual impact of the piece.
