It has never said that The Flash doesn’t think outside the box.

After developing “Flashes Of Insight”, Wally West has a new approach to fighting crime.

Heat Wave isn’t really interested in this as he has other plans. Let’s see how this mashes up.

North continues to stretch some wild notions with the Scarlet Speedster. The “conflict” with Heat Wave is filled with great banter and a debate about legality. As wild as that sounds, it fits the narrative of this new ambition. The result may appear as classic as ever, but not without doing one thing. It opens up a clear path to filter his new abilities on a larger scale.

Wally’s talk with Mr. Terrific goes heavy into the scientific side of events. Readers see Wally’s enthusiasm take hold as he converses this with Linda. Using Captain Boomerang as a test subject gives off positive results. This ushers in a speedy (no pun intended close). Seeing how Wally is utilizing this method opens up more trouble to come in the future. The parting pages tease a new avenue to tread, but leaves the question of should he?

Guidry and Lucas open with a full shot of Heat Wave on the offensive. This gives way to a more comical set-up in body language as they debate. The action speeds up enough as talking only gets so far. Readers get some vintage moments thrown in before events lead to a more smart discussion with Mr. Terrific.

Their banter shows the breakdown of Wally’s wild ambitions. His non-stop smiling tips the hand that he’s already have another notion cooking. This leads into an incredible two page spread that is so creative in structure. It distracts the detour to family time with Linda. After this occurs, his plan goes back into action. A series of great two page spreads show his progenitive powers at work. The result leads into a solid discovery. This amplifies as the story moves to close. A final full page indicates how lofty the goal is, but buyer should beware.

FINAL GRADE: 8.5

Wally West’s obsession with the future leads to more hijinks as events speed along. North leans heavily into the scientific portion of plans with the writing. Guidry and Lucas craft solid looks at this new scheme via the art. An interesting take leading into more fast problems down the road. Don’t miss out.
