STORY OVERVIEW:
Malebolgia has shapeshifted into a prehistoric form as he takes on Spawn and Sinn. The two enemies have to put their differences to the side if they hope to defeat Malebolgia. As they continue the fight Spawn throws a hail mary hoping that it will open up the attack for Sinn. But this only angers Malebolgia who catches Spawn and lights his cape on fire. As the fire spreads, it strengthens and evolves Malebolgia yet again. As his form changes Sinn sees his opportunity to not only steal Malebolgia’s powers but also Spawn’s so he can finally rival God. Can Spawn prevent this from happening, well still eliminating Malebolgia?
WRITING:
This finishes up the latest Todd McFarlane run of Spawn delivers and then some. The fight and action come at the reader hot and heavy. McFarlane doesn’t skimp on the action sequences and delivers some of the best fight scenes we’ve seen in a series full of amazing fight sequences. Add to this the underlying motives of Sinn and how that affects the decisions of not just him but also of Spawn. McFarlane layers the story with the action so effectively and keeps the hot pace of the story throughout the issues run time.
At the end of the book, Matthew Rosenberg adds an epilogue that will bridge the gap between the current run and the run he will be writing starting next issue. Taking us back three months ago, and introducing us to a kid named Hudson Hill, who will surely be a major figure in the upcoming run. This epilogue is a great way to get readers ready for what’s to come as well as introduce them to a new creative team.
ARTWORK:
The artwork in this issue is awesome and is what we’ve become accustomed to in this Brett Booth run of Spawn. The artwork feels epic and makes the fight scenes look larger and better. Booth adds a great deal of detail into the fight and backgrounds of said fight. The thing that stands out the most is the design of Malebolgia and the evolutions that he goes through on the way to his final form. Booth really gets creative on these looks and brings some really cool visuals to the transformations.
The artwork really pops because of Robert Nugent’s color selections, which brings everything on the page to life. The coloring of the hero shots of Spawn in particular are stunning and make the reader just want to stare at them. The entire art team crushed it on this issue and this run.
The artwork in the epilogue is provided by Stephen Segovia, who will be taking over the art duties on the new run starting next issue. Just from these epilogue pages the reader can tell that Segovia will be going in a different direction with the artwork. He has some big shoes to fill but just judging from what we see on these pages, the artwork is in good hands.

Final Thoughts:
Spawn #375 is the end of an era and run for one of the most iconic franchises in comic book history. The creative team for this run goes out on a high note and a bang, well ushering in and introducing the new creative team. As a long time fan of Spawn, I was personally impressed with the end of this era and am very hopeful for the next era to kickoff. Make sure to grab a copy of this issue at the shop this week to celebrate what was and to get ahead of what’s to come. Also, well you’re at the LCS, add Spawn to your Pull List if it’s not already there, as you will want to ensure yourself a front row seat to the next epic run of the series.
