*** POSSIBLE SPOILER WARNING ***
Parrott and Cotton handle this chapter on two fronts. Watching Dylan adjust to the college atmosphere provides some unexpected reactions. Readers see how Hunter is trying to manipulate Vanessa as he plots against Dylan. The dialogue shrouds his true intentions. It leaves room for Dylan to try squeezing in-between to attempt his comeback. This comes to a head at a frat party later in the evening. Once here, another character steals some spotlight before breaking into Hunter’s facade. How good is Bryon in these moments? It lays a foundation for something larger in wait. In comparison to Aurie’s challenge, it a case of purrs and meows.
The presence of Mr. Poe shakes up the present Rogue Sun’s mystique. Taking a bullet to the face awakens a new side to Aurie. Readers watch as she starts to become very aggressive in dealing with Poe’s latest pawn. The writing sees her takes some measures with securing information. This builds into a very strong finish. A simple intel mission spirals into much more with Aurie learning the hard way about fighting with emotion. The closing pages leave an impression this is only the tip of the iceberg for the young hero. Can’t wait to see what happens next.

Frenda and Marques waste little time starting off with a bang. The heated exchange with Hellbent and Cataclysm crafts the sinister methods in place for Dylan’s downfall. It gives way to Aurie being shot at via full page. This launches the issue into some great action panels. Watching Aurie’s anger start to brood moves the story in a darker place. A daring rescue catches readers attention as the world of Poe begins to expand.
Dylan’s time at college remains very grounded in nature. Vanessa’s talk with Hunter carries many familiar looks. It appears innocent enough but helps to slowly raise up the drama later in the issue. Readers view the interjection of Bryon in play. This helps assist a turning point for Vanessa and Dylan via half page. Hunter’s sly reaction tip the hand of the true nature before heading into closing. Aurie’s plot escorts readers into the supernatural side with great action visuals. The art team plays it safe to get the audience to the bold finish. A full page image makes a decree that spells nothing but disaster for Rogue Sun. Who would want it any other way?
FINAL GRADE: 8.8
When Mr. Poe escalates his play, it makes Aurie grow up fast being the Supernatural protector of the Massive-Verse. Parrott and Cotton deliver on the high drama and louder introduction for Poe via the writing. Frenda and Marques work out all the paces to present a very solid perspective of events. One thing to always bank on Rogue Sun issues: always expect the unexpected.
