Queen In Black #4 (Marvel Comics)
Hello there! Padawan J here, the resident Star Wars expert from the ODPH! This week I'm going to be reviewing the 4th issue of Queen In Black from Marvel Comics!
The battle is on! Hela and Knull are on Earth, and the Marvel heroes are trying everything they can to get ahead of them both. So what happens when Reed loses control? Let’s jump into it!

The Story
Al Ewing gets really crazy in this issue, as the stakes get as high as they’ve been the entire series. I really enjoyed the way he laid the story out and was able to continuously raise the stakes. After Black Cat #14 you would’ve figured they’d start to get the upper hand on Hela & Knull, but that isn’t the case.
The issue did a really great job of push and pull, each side seemingly getting the upper hand on the other right before momentum would swing back the other way. The roster for this issue is also huge and really does a great job giving you the high stakes feeling when you involve so many characters.
The issue really stands out at a few moments, including the scenes involving Nova are one of them. I’ve never been that big of a Nova fan, but I really enjoyed watching him display his power in such magnitude. There’s also the matter of the ending, and oh boy is it a doozy. The series thus far hasn’t really given any moments that make you sit back and go “woah” but the ending of this one sure will. It’ll be interesting to see just how they get out of this one and what the ramifications will be.
The Artwork
Iban Coello, Paco Medina & Guru-eFX are in charge of the artwork for the issue and they do a phenomenal job with it. There is A LOT going on in the issue and each panel has a ton of care put into it that really comes across on the pages. You can tell how much time and effort went into each panel. The last page in particular stands out as one of the craziest final images I’ve seen in a comic in a while.
Overall Grade: 8/10
A great entry into the series that really raises the stakes for everyone involved. Al Ewing is bringing everything together what’s sure to be an explosive entry in the series. Together with amazing artwork, this really is an issue you can’t pass up on.
