The Story
Charles Soule is delivers yet another incredible issue of a Star Wars comic that delivers from start to finish. It also adds a wrinkle to the story that I did not expect. Soule’s writing style really compliments Star Wars in such a wonderful way. He’s able to take a time where we don’t know a whole lot that happened and flesh it out in such a wonderful way that adds some interesting details to the mystery.
The story continues to develop in an interesting way, with Kylo Ren looking to consolidate his power and rule the galaxy with an iron fist. However he has an unexpected visitor shows up to the star destroyer that puts a pause on things. As you can probably guess from the cover, it’s Tava Ren. Of course not everything is as simple as it seems and things quickly spiral out of control.
We are of course operating on a limited time schedule. The series is after all set between the The Last Jedi and The Rise Of Skywalker, so we do have an idea how things are going to end up. However as is often the case with Star Wars, we don’t know all of the details.
The Artwork
Will Sliney & Guru-eFX are in charge of the artwork for the issue and they both do a fantastic job with the art. The interiors of the star destroyer are particularly detailed and I love the intricacy of the detail on each of the characters. There’s also a character introduced at the end that might be one of the most incredible designs I’ve seen in a Star Wars character in some time.
Overall Grade: 9/10
Charles Soule is delivers an incredible story that is a can’t miss one for any Star Wars fan. A story together with artwork that is simply spectacular make this issue a top priority for any Star Wars fan.
