Flores starts off with a grim look at Angel Grove. Seeing a mutant being hunted by corrupt Eltarian guards ushers in a heroic and violent statement. It sets a tempo for the remainder of the issue. There is a strong sense of mistrust coming from Valentia. This becomes more clouded when she starts conversing with Janessa. Anytime the word “snitch” appears, it is never a good label. Considering how events were left last issue, this becomes even more complicated.
Readers watch as she breaks down her fellow “teammates”. The dialogue comes with a bit of sharpness to it. This can be connected to the removal of Jun from the equation. Once events shift back to the Rangers future, another figure jumps into play. Rita’s temper drives this portion of the book. Her words bear a heavy weight. This leads to the closing pages. A touch of mystery wraps up events with much to ponder. It’s a solid starting point for what is sure to be another classic Rangers tale.
Sorressa and Lafuente bring the action early with the opening moments. Watching the Guards being dealt with in brutal fashion sends a message. The “X-Ray” image brings back some memories of “Romeo Must Die”. This doesn’t go unnoticed by Valentia. Her laser focus doesn’t escape the panels. Knowing what she is doing only emphasizes what the overall play is. Readers can feel an uneasiness during this moment.
It translates to a very direct conversation with Janessa. The art recaps Valentia’s watchful memories as she breaks down her team. This leads into a few verbal jabs before moving into the post meeting drama. Watching the team confront Rita spills into a brief skirmish. The full page image of Rita addressing the team after jumps off the page. Seeing the team react to her words sends a direct hit to any doubts they carry. This moves events to the closing pages. Jayden’s mysterious visitor teases many themes while lurking in the shadows. It caps off a stunning issue with much promise in the air.

The Rangers are posed a question of their future as they search for direction in this opening arc chapter. Flores pens a sensational read, exploring the loyalty amongst team. Sorressa and Lafuente craft impressive looks while taking the team into a new beginning. This is a great jumping on point for readers as the Rangers head into uncharted territory.
